DESCRIPTION:Together with agronomist and Eudaimonia Tourism\, Environment & Agritourism Director Varvara Kouneli\, the local students of Folegandros learned: \n\nabout the most important herbs\ncreated a pilot school herb garden\n\nThe students learned about Greek biodiversity\, their cultivation\, collection\, processing and the resistance of herbs to dry heat conditions. \nThey understood the concept and environmental benefits of composting\, both in reducing waste and improving soil and plant health. \nThey collaborated and created a pilot school herb garden\, hosting and increasing the biodiversity of the school garden.

SUMMARY:Destination & Next Generation: Co-Creating the Future - Folegandros Island Pilot Program
DESCRIPTION:The first pilot program ‘Destination & Next Generation: Co-Creating the Future’ took place in Folegandros island on the 20th & 21st of April 2024. Twenty four students (60 students in total on the island) from junior school & high school (grades 5\,6\,7\,8\,9) participated in the program. On Saturday morning the students completed a questionnaire which examined contemporary issues which concern them focusing on their destination\, interests and tourism. During the weekend\, the students engaged in immersive presentations\, discussions and a holistic approach to the phenomenon of travel\, tourism and their destination. Eudaimonia Tourism team member and responsible for Environmental & Agritourism programs\, Varvara Kouneli travelled with us for our first pilot program. \nThe local students learned with Varvara\, all about the most important native herbs and created a pilot herb garden in the school playground. \n\nThis initiative took place thanks to the support and cooperation of our ‘Folegandros Community’ team. \n\n\n\nWe thank them for their participation\, enthusiasm\, unique local heritage workshops and for coordinating everything locally: \nElektra Karasavvidou (Folegandros Junior & High School Teacher) 🥾 Workshop: Exploring the paths of Folegandros \nMaria Marinaki (H Kouzina Tis Giagias – Folegandros Women Association) 🍝 Workshop: Preparing Matsata\, Folegandros handmade pasta \nAlexis Sideris (President of the Cultural Association of Folegandros) 🪨 Workshop: Preserving the art of dry stone walling \nTransport sponsor: Seajets \nAccommodation: Municipality of Folegandros \nThis project was funded by Eudaimonia Tourism Non-Profit Organisation.
